Last Chance Special Event Correction

The start time for the Last Chance Special Event is a 8:30 am shotgun start. It was previously posted as a 8:00 am start.

The Last Chance Special Event will be held on 14 September 2020 at Sunset Hills Country Club in Edwardsville, IL. Lunch will be served. We have 26 open spots. Plenty of room to get a 2-Man team together or sign up as a single. See the current confirmed list to see the singles already signed up.

Cardinal Creek Event

There has been a large response from the Metro Senior membership to play at Cardinal Creek on September 8th, 2020 along with the members of Metro Plus. 

If you still wish to participate you must send your Full name, drivers license number/state and date of birth to Larry Roth @ larry@lgr-sri.com by not later than Monday night August 24th, 2020, by 9:00 PM. 

No requests to play after that date and time will be honored.

Hole-in-One in Division 2

Leonard Hartmann from Division 2 got his “First” Hole-in-One ever today while playing hole # 16 at Far Oaks.  Each member who score a Hole-in-One in any Metro Seniors event wins $100.00. 

Congratulations to Leonard. If you see him, you should let him know!

Last Chance Special Event Confirmed List

The Last Chance Confirmed List has been updated and has been posted to the Metro Seniors web site. On the Home Page, go to the top tool bar and hover your cursor over Schedules and Results. A drop down box will appear. Cursor down to Special Events and click on the Confirm – Wait – Pairings – Instructions link. Or you can click here.

The Last Chance is a 2-Man Best Ball format. It will be held on Monday, 14 September 2020 at Sunset Hills Country Club in Edwardsville, IL. It is a 8:00 am shotgun start and lunch is included. Cost is $67. We currently have 105 confirmed players. With a 128 player limit, there are plenty of open spots. Sign up as a two man team or a single. This is always a fun outing to finish up the Special Events year.

“New” Membership Co-Chairs

For the past 6 years Dan Glenzy has served at the Membership Chair for Metro Seniors. He he done an outstanding job, setting up the program, calling members who didn’t renew to find out why, informed the Division VP’s of new members, designed our current welcome letter and solicited new members. He will be a tough act to follow. If you see him, please thank him for the job he did!

Effective immediately Dan Duvall and Michael Dersch both from Division 3 have decided to take over the position as co-chairs. The membership committee in 2020 will engage in a new marketing plan to attract more members and will handle all the duties Dan Glenzy did in the past. Both are in their early 60’s so in this group they will bring a fresh approach to the committee. Going forward Metro Seniors will no longer accept cash for any payment. Only checks, debit or credit cards will be accepted.

Lou Luketich Founders’ Day Pairing List

Only 1 week to go for the Lou Luketich Founders’ Day Special Event. The event will be held on Tuesday, 18 August 2020, at the Whitmoor Country Club. It is a 7:30 am Shotgun start, 4-Person Shamble, and will be played on the North Course. Lunch will be served. There will be ample seating.

As of today, we have a full complement of 144 players, 36 teams. The Pairing List has been posted to the Metro Seniors web site, or you can click here. The instructions for the event can be found here.

Please observe the Covid rules called out in the instructions and listed here.

  • Wear masks before and after the event
  • Maintain social distancing
  • Do not touch the flag stick
  • Do not play out of the bunker, do not touch the rakes
    • Drop the ball behind the bunker with no penalty stroke
  • Riding 2 per cart, all carts have dividers
  • Single carts are not an option

The long range forecast is showing a high of 79 with very little chance of rain. It should be a fun day.
