Dennis Carter, Division 1 member, volunteered and been accepted as the new Treasurer for Metro St. Louis Seniors Golf.  Dennis has been a Board Director for Division 1.  As Treasurer, he stay on the Board of Governors.  He has been a member of the Handicap Committee.  Dennis also volunteered on the Pace of Play Committee.

Ed Gauthier, our most recent Treasurer, is spending more time with his family out of town and resigned earlier this year.  We do want to thank Ed for his past service.  He made many important contributions to our accounting.  Ed is also continuing to assist us into the future with our association taxes.

Division 1, May 5 at Legacy Canceled

Division 1 May 5 Weekly Tournament at The Legacy has been canceled.

Bryan Stitch at The Legacy said,

“As feared earlier in the week, when I called to inform you of the golf course conditions, we will not be able to host tomorrow’s senior event.
We have received another 2.25 inches since yesterday, and most of the course in under water.  Have not been able to cut anything in a week except greens, and some aprons and tees.  It is simply unplayable at this point.
Hopefully this rain will soon end and we can get back to this great game of golf.”
So Division 1, take the time to help a friend affected by the flooding, clean up your clubs and bag, do something nice for someone.  Use use this free time to good purpose.

May 4 Golf Canceled – Divisions 3, 4, and 5 – Possible reschedule

May 4 Weekly Tournaments for Divisions 3, 4, and 5 have been canceled for possible reschedule.

The forecast rain, cold and difficult course conditions would lead to low turnout and a poor member experience.

Please see the VP announcements and respond as requested by VP for possible reschedules.

Division 3 – Gary Maule – Rescheduled to May 23, Tuesday

The rained-out May 4 Div 3 Belk Park tournament has been scheduled for the same time on Tuesday, May 23 at Belk Park.

Please remember, you must place a completed scorecard from your round in the envelope at the end of the round. I will pick up the envelope from the previous week when I get to the course each week. I will then send everyone a email congratulating and announcing the winners. After that I will have your money. Good luck.

If you have not been paid please see me at your next tournament you participate in and I will have your money with me.

Week 2 Pace of Play Update

Thank you Metro Seniors

In our first two weeks we have seen very significant improvement in Pace of Play in every Division.

2016 Season averages for were:

  • Split Tee Starts – 4:49
  • Shotgun Starts – 5:13

Our first two weeks for 2017 were: Split Tee – 4:23     Shotgun – 4:30

Many factors including weather are part of this, but member awareness and focus on Ready Golf are the keys.

We still have a few slow tee groups.  The slowest Tee Groups are still a full hour longer than the fastest groups on some outings.  These slow groups still block several groups behind.  One player can slow down as many as 20 players behind.

Very encouraging are the times for Columbia, Aberdeen, Landings, and Dardenne.  The slowest to fastest times were closer together (20 to 45 minutes difference).  These were also relatively crowded courses.  Everybody was keeping up, staying together.

The table below is Times by Division for week 1 and 2.

Below (PDF file) is a more detailed summary of the Pace of Play Logs.  This includes the times for each tee group.  You can see your group time and how it stacked up with the field.  I have highlighted the “slowest” groups in YELLOW for each outing.  This is based on total play time and “Time Lost” against the groups ahead.

The groups in CYAN were blocked/slowed by the group ahead.

These summaries DO NOT have Member IDs. However, the full details with member identification has been shared with the Division VPs and the Pace Of Play Committee.

If your group was “slow” you may want to see what you can do to speed up.  Starting June 1, tee groups that are significantly and consistently slow will enter enforcement (warnings through expulsion if they do not improve.)

Final Results – 1st 100 – Special Event

We had another great day Special Event at Pheasant Run for the First 100.  It was a cool start with heavy dew on the greens – a real challenge judging the putts.  The day warmed, the greens dried, and everyone had fun.  We finished quickly – most players finished in about 4 hours.  By Noon, almost everyone had finished lunch and was on their way for the rest of the day,

71 members attended.  Unfortunately, we had several no-shows.  Perhaps they forgot?

Thanks to our volunteers for signup and final scoring.  Joe Lerch is using our computer system to generate professional scorecards.  Joe finished the scoring with the final results issued in lest than 18 hours.

Here are the results:
