Enter the password and submit.

You will then see the front page for your (or any) Division. with lots of options for reports.  Click on the Roster (#1).

You will then see the most recent information for you.  This includes your most recent Handicap Guide and Flight.    PLEASE HELP US by reviewing your Roster Information for accuracy.  If you change your email, phone number or address during the season, PLEASE tell us ASAP.

PLEASE CONTACT Membership Chairman, Dan Glenzy,  dglenzy@charter.net, with corrections or changes as needed.  We can’t contact you with wrong addresses.

New Members – your Handicap Guide will start following your first outing, but you will not have a Flight assignment, and official Handicap Guide for Flight Prize participation until you have recorded 3 official weekly outings.   So you can start Flight winnings on weekly outing 4.  Again, very important to check your roster information.

Access to OurGolfStats.com

Recently, something changed on the internet for OurGolfStats.com, causing all links that start with the world wide web prefix of www. to lose track of what league is being accessed. Any “links” or “bookmarks” or “desktop shortcuts” that you use to access OurGolfStats, should have the www. removed. We have tried to “re-direct” all www.OurGolfStats.com links to plain old OurGolfStats.com, but it looks like some access is leaking through.

Any time that you do get the wrong page, pressing the Ctrl key along with the F5 key should get you to the correct page. The key sequence Ctrl plus F5 tells the browser to go all the way back to the server to get the correct copy of the web page. Once all the search engines re-index OurGolfStats.com, they should have the latest versions of the web pages and you should not see the problem any more. “Should” is the operative word here.

The above key sequence works with Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer and Opera browsers. If you use the Safari browser, there are different commands for different versions of Safari. Try one of these

    Ctrl+Alt+E
    Opt+Cmd+E
    Cmd+Shift+R
    Alt/Edit/Empty Cache
    Settings/Clear Cache

Hope this explanation is not too complicated. We are continuing to find better solutions to this issue. If you have any specific questions, send them to CustomerService@OurGolfStats.com.

2017 Board of Governors, Officers and Committees

The 2017 Board of Governors, Officers, and Committees

These are member volunteers who are running your golf association.  Please take the opportunity to thank them for their efforts.  Our volunteers are a great group of guys focused on making the Association better every year.

We also welcome your participation.  Volunteers are the lifeblood of the organization.  We need committed, talented members to help make things better.  Volunteer as a Starter / Scorer or to help with the tournaments.  Join a committee and use your organizational, leadership or technical skills.  If you have technology skills (or want to learn), we can use your help on the website, newsletters, and more.

Every year we have openings on the Board of Governors for each division.  Throw your hat into the ring to represent your Division (talk to your VP or any officer).

Talk with any Committee Chair about helping their committee.

Revised Division 2 Scheduled Dates

The Division 2 Weekly Tournament Schedule has been changed slightly.  We swapped dates for Aberdeen (originally May 12 – now June 2) with Columbia (originally June 2 – now may 12).  All terms and conditions remain the same.  All other dates remain the same.

The scheduled on this website have been changed and this will be included in the Member Directory for the March Member Meeting.

Revised schedule  – 2/13/2017

Closest To Pin Locations – Weekly Tournaments

The Division VPs have the primary responsibility for selection of the CTP holes and positioning (Forward and Back) for each weekly tournament.

Rick Hines, VP Division 5, has prepared a suggested CTP location for each weekly tournament that is included here.  (See Below)

We expect that most Divisions will be using these positions for 2017.  However, the VPs may make changes as they feel appropriate and will confirm via email to the Starters before a tournament.   Since most of our courses continue from year to year, we will make CTP changes as needed for new courses added to the weekly tournaments,

This will give you a peek before you get to the course.  Another resource for you.

Selection of the holes requires some thought to make this competition fair and challenging without picking holes that are excessively long or short.  We try to have both a Forward and a Back CTP on each of the front and back nine.  However, some courses don’t have a good layout.

Forward CTP Holes

  • 110 to 115 Yards Average
  • 145 Yards Max
  • 83 Yards Min

Back CTP Holes

  • 140 to 145 Yards Average
  • 165 to 170 Yards Max
  • 100 to 105 Yards Min

Six courses will have both the Forward (Red) CTP and the Back (Yellow) CTP on the same hole.  This is to prevent having exceptionally long or short holes.  For example, not many players can make the 190 yard par 3s at The Prairies or Florissant or the 225 yard 18th at Normandie.

The STARTERS are not required to select the CTP holes.  They will use the VP email instructions or use the suggested CTP holes and position in the spreadsheet.    However, STARTERS will still prepare the CTP Cards for the selected holes and get these to the first group or the hole assigned group.  This can be done a day or two  BEFORE the outing.

We will simplify the Starter’s Instructions and delete the detailed description on selecting Closest To Pin locations for each weekly tournament.

PGA Championship Coming in 2018

We don’t have any official information yet.  So we can’t sign up anyone for a while.  This is to get you thinking for 2018.   Here is starting information link from PGA CLICK HERE.

The 2018 PGA Championship will be held at Bellerive.  Schedule is August 6 through August 12, 2018

Metro Seniors organized a group of volunteers for the 2013 Senior PGA Championship.  We essentially handled marshal duties for one hole.  It was fun and we got to ramble around Bellerive.

There is a cost to volunteer, and some training time required. Volunteers do get tickets for access to the course during most or all the event.  Volunteers also receive some clothing items (shirt, jacket, hat) that help offset some of the costs.  Volunteers also have separate parking and shuttles.

Board of Governors will discuss organizing a group for 2018.

Scorecards – Scoring Problems and Solutions?

Just how important is our Universal Scorecard?  It is almost everything.

It is the only way that your score is recorded.  It is the basis for your handicap.  It is the proof that you actually won your flight (or not).

It is also the basis for measuring our Pace of Play, but more on that later.

So why is it that we have so many errors, omissions, and simply unreadable scorecards????

For 2016 (Division 1 Data)

  • 40% of our Members (50 members) had score errors on Scorecards
  • 12 Members had errors on multiple outings
  • 2 Members had errors on 4 separate outings
  • Only 1 play date was free of score errors – Far Oaks
  • Many of the scorecards were almost unreadable

Why is it IMPORTANT?

  • Your score, handicap, flight, flight prizes, and invitation to championship.
  • It takes extra time ($) for outside service to find, fix errors.

Why do we have the problems? It is really simple! We are sloppy!

  • Poor Handwriting – really hard to read
  • Bad Pencil – too light to read
  • Bad Math
    • Totals Incorrect
    • Could Not Read Hole Scores

How to Fix?

  • Get a GOOD Pencil or Pen – we have lots at the course
  • Get the best scribe in group to write
  • Have each in group add up scores, especially their own
  • Check scores and math on course card FIRST, then transpose to Universal Scorecard
  • Take a minute or so to make it Right First Time!

Pace of Play Committee – Volunteer Now!

The Board has charged a new Pace of Play Committee to define how we can improve member experience.

I am looking for volunteers to work on the committee over the next several weeks.  We want to have improvements approved by the Board and ready to start for the new 2017 season.  We will introduce these at the March General Meeting.

Contact me ASAP to join us.  Dave Wicks, dlwicks@sbcglobal.net, 314-616-5813

Every course we play expects a typical round of about 4 1/4 hours.  In reality, rounds of less than 4 hours are really possible.  With exceptions of rain delays and Path Only, most tee groups finish in 4  1/2 hours or less.

The experience of a 5 or 6 hour round of golf is frustrating for everyone.  Our game goes cold while waiting.  Tempers flare.  The course loses revenue – an extra hour could reduce revenue by 4 to 5 foursomes – $700. Lunches are missed.  and more.

Improving Pace of Play will require ALL members cooperation.  One player, or one foursome can delay everyone.  One slow group can cause other groups to fall behind even further.

Getting better requires everyone:

  1. Education for existing and new members
    1. Ready Golf
    2. Tournament Rules that speed play
  2. Cooperation from ALL members
    1. Play quickly
    2. Encourage others to improve
    3. Enforce rules
  3. Develop better Education, Rules, Monitoring, and Enforcement
