Special Events pose special challenges while using handicaps. We are mixing a variety of skills with a variety of play formats. Shambles, scrambles, best ball, Ryder cup, 2 person teams, 4 person teams plus a wide mix of skills on teams really make handicaps calculations difficult.
Handicaps must be fair. We must identify the “winning teams”. Finally we must minimize potential ties and time consuming tie break calculations.
Fortunately the Special Events Committee has settled into using some suggestions from USGA. This coupled with our software package is giving great results.
